We’re excited to announce a new partnership with the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation! Beginning this fall, tutors will provide extra practice and support to help Maryland students improve their foundational reading and math skills.

Curious about what high-impact tutoring looks like when put into action? Just ask the community of Columbus Elementary School! The K-5 school has partnered with Reading Corps and Math Corps to provide tutoring support to over 400 students since 2017. By working with students in pairs or small groups using proven strategies, tutors can help students improve their reading skills and boost their foundational math skills!

"The connections that are being made in the school building and making kids feel good about their growth is very evident," says Principal Neal Fox. This would not be possible without our many reading and math tutors, past and present, at Columbus Elementary. Each of you has brought your own unique contribution and impact to students over the years, and we are so grateful. Terrence became interested in tutoring after serving with Florida's Real Men Read Program, which helps students in local schools ignite a love and curiosity for reading. Eager to continue his impact on students in DeKalb County, he decided to become a Math Tutor.

Terrence is committed to using his time and knowledge to help students succeed, sharing that "Helping students reach their academic goals and enhance their educational equity" is his main goal.

Math Corps is one of the nation’s largest and most efficient high-impact tutoring programs. Tutors support students in kindergarten through eighth grade, providing extra practice and skill-building during the school day. The results are incredible – students who receive tutoring from Math Corps make faster progress and achieve higher scores than their peers!
