✨Attorney Spotlight: An Interview with Dan Van Loh! ✨

Get to know Dan! We recently had the pleasure of interviewing Dan to learn more about him. Here’s what he had to say:

🏃‍♂️‍➡️What’s one hobby or activity you enjoy outside of law?
Running. I ran 1,200 miles in 2024. Since starting to run in 2017, I’ve run 2 marathons, 10+ half marathons, numerous other 5k, 10k, 10 mile, 20 mile and trail races.
⭐What’s the best piece of life advice you’ve received?
Relationships trump being right.
📖What book do you recommend most often?
I’m currently recommending a book by Arthur Brooks, From Strength to Strength: Finding Success, Happiness and Deep Purpose in the Second Half of Life.
💬Do you have a favorite quote that motivates you, both personally and professionally?
“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” The quote is originally attributed to Albert Einstein and slightly modified by John Maxwell to “add” value. For me, this means to aspire to add value to every relationship, client, organization or endeavor.
🌅How do you like to start your day? Do you have any morning rituals?
I start my day with a “quiet” half hour that includes reading from the book of Proverbs, journaling, devotional/Bible reading and mediation, then coffee while I listen to a podcast. I also walk my teacup poodle, Pumpkin, each morning.
🌊If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
The North Shore of Lake Superior with my wife, Natasha, which is a special place for us to relax and detach together.

🌿 What hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
I’m a greenhouse gardener, crocheter, and soon-to-be chicken farmer!
🎸 What’s a fun fact about you?
I’ve been to over 90 concerts, including seeing Peter Gabriel 3 times, the Eagles 5 times, and Steve Miller 4 times. I've also enjoyed seeing OneRepublic and Bruno Mars.
🐴 What’s a memorable or funny moment from your childhood that you still laugh about today?
Growing up with horses, I once had to chase a runaway horse down the highway!
❤️ What’s your favorite part about helping families through tough times?
Successfully helping a client manage both the emotional and financial aspects of their marriage dissolution.
🌟 What’s one thing you’re proud of that you’ve achieved outside of your legal career?
Sponsoring a mentorship program and spending time mentoring grade school students 1-on-1.
🍽️ If you could have dinner with any famous person in the legal world, who would it be?
Ruth Bader Ginsburg or Amy Klobuchar.
