In Minneapolis, we are grieving the brutal murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers. This tragedy in our community and the murder and marginalization of black and brown people in communities throughout the country is the result of police brutality rooted in white supremacy.

Vega and Instruments in the Cloud exist to support teachers and community in making music accessible to all students. In order for Vega and Instruments in the Cloud to pursue this mission and work, we must do the work to dismantle all forms of racism in our education system and other systems.

The first step in our work is always to listen, and to learn from and consider what teachers and community take time to tell us.

The next step is to act – to examine the immediate and systemic barriers that keep all students from having equitable access to music and to education.

As an integral part of our work, we commit to supporting teachers who are engaging their students by providing culturally relevant curriculum and amplifying the work of partner organizations led by people of color.
