This Bloomington kitchen presented a tall order: transform a dark, compartmentalized space into one that feels bright, open, and beautifully linear—without sacrificing the features our clients loved most.

By thoughtfully reimagining the floor plan, we preserved the existing fireplace, created a dedicated drop zone and mudroom, and established direct access to the garage for everyday convenience.

The true workhorse of the design is the island. At just 27 inches wide but stretching an impressive 10 feet in length, it proves that great design isn’t always about going bigger—it’s about going smarter.

The streamlined footprint keeps circulation open while delivering exceptional prep space, abundant storage, and room for gathering.

A light-filled transformation where every inch works harder and every detail serves a purpose.

For Senior Interior Designer Nicole Sirek, one of the big takeaways from this year’s Kitchen and Bath Industry Show was the movement toward organic materials and design.

A stunning example of this was Brizo’s inspired design based on Frank Lloyd Wright’s organic approach to design including his six key principles of design being Belonging, Simplicity, Individuality, Pallette, Substance and Integrity.
