This night was a movie so why not capture it likeone. I have this lens as I move through my life. Me a main character the people I love superstars and should be seen as such.
Telling stories through film is one of my fav to archive the history in the making. I look around sometimes and think this like can’t be real. All these genuine talented and beautiful people I get to call my family.
I’ve been capturing things leisurely for many years but it wasn’t till the last few years where i genuinely considered myself a film maker, screenwriter and overall storyteller. I’m excited to share more of my world with you through my specific lens.

Today’s the day. ✨
Come join me at Zoma House for Home Theater, alongside a stacked lineup of talented Black filmmakers. I’ll be screening my short film, “Water” a piece from my first one-woman show, In Search of Her.
In Search of Her is a body of work I’m still unfolding still uncovering the gems and lessons that came from invoking my lineage, my personal power, the power I inherited, and the paracosm I built as an act of survival and imagination.
Out of all the films from the show, Water is my favorite not just for what it became, but for how it was made. It reminded me that you don’t need much to tell a good story. You need connection. Connection to yourself. To the story. To the right people.
This film was truly an exercise in making something out of nothing pulling materials from Home Depot, shooting in pools my bestie generously opened up to me, building worlds with what we had. It’s a testament to resourcefulness, community, and belief.

Nya Akoma Family 🫶🏿Happy Black Love Day!
Black Love Day created by Ayo Handy-Kendi is celebrated Feb 13th and is observed by practicing five tenets: Love for the Creator, Self, Family and The Black race, often through acts like supporting Black Businesses, acts of kindness, self-care, and expressing gratitude, all while using the greeting “Nya Akoma” (Get a heart, Be Patient, Return to Love) This day serves a spiritual alternative to Valentines Day focusing on communal uplift, healing and celebrating Black culture and relationships.
I’ve been deeply witnessing my artistic archives lately and came across this gem. With all that we are experiencing as a nation I found solace in this joyful remembrance of a time “All About Love” and this felt like the perfect day to revisit and share. Ive decided to create new traditions for myself and it’s a mix of looking back, looking forward and integrating all that is, was and will be into this present moment. Today also marks the day Saturn moves into Aries a powerful transit that reminds you to initiate in your life with the source of love fueling you. This is the time to be radical dreamers of the world we desire to live in and love is a fuel that never runs out. I’ve been reminding myself If I Am My Ancestors Wildest Dream I must Dream WILDER! I refuse to succumb to someone else dream that is my peoples nightmare and so I challenge myself and I challenge you to use your wild imagination to dream of a world that is full with LOVE that sustains all, Uplifts those that needs it and is bountiful with true overflowing abundance.
