As Pride weekend begins, we would like to address the work of Twin Cities QBIPOC performers. ⁣

We were originally planning to donate our performance proceeds from the Pride show to q***r black led orgs, but have since changed our approach based on q***r performers of color calling for a different kind of action. White performers (in drag, burlesque, and cabaret) are called to strike to support multiple changes. The virtual show has since been canceled by TC Pride, but nonetheless, the following is an excerpt from the email we sent: ⁣

"We would like to formally withdraw from the event. ⁣

Below are the general demands from QBIPOC (Not comprehensive, they are in process of finalization): ⁣

- People of Color, with emphasis on Black members of our community, must be hired in show manager/director positions. Show directing and booking cannot be in the hands of solely white performers and managers.⁣

- Shows with a stable weekly cast must be at least 50% BIPOC. Shows with a rotating/all guest cast must book at least 50% BIPOC performers.⁣

- For large events and weekends, such as Pride Weekend, at least half of the headlining performers must be BIPOC."⁣

The above were copied from a list in progress collected by , and we fully support and the doc she has helped create as well. ⁣
Pride was a uprising in response to police brutality against POC, and it's important to remember that as we celebrate our ability to live our truths. ❤ RHR Directors
