πβ¨ Swedish author Jonatan MΓ₯rtensson beautifully reminds us that while we can't control the arrival of our feelings, we have the power to decide how we engage with them. Just like skilled surfers, we can choose how we ride the waves of our emotions, aiming to respond rather than react. Embracing the ebb and flow of our feelings with compassion allows us to move through them rather than get fully swept away and overtaken by them. πβ¨

π Closing the Liking Gap π
Have you ever felt like everyone has more friends than you? It's called the "liking gap," where we underestimate how much others like us and assume others have more connections. Here are some tips on combating this and making friends as an adult πβ¨
π Tip 1: Assume new folks you meet like you. Know in your initial anxieties and thoughts about meeting new friends that you are likely underestimating how much others may like you and the potential of the friendship.
π€ Tip 2: Be yourself and embrace vulnerability. Authenticity builds deep connections that withstand the test of time.
ποΈ Tip 3: Prioritize friendships by setting aside dedicated time to nurture them. Regular hangouts or virtual catch-ups go a long way in strengthening bonds.
πΈ Tip 4: Find shared interests and join clubs, classes, or online communities where you can meet people with similar passions.
π Tip 5: Be a good listener and show genuine interest in others. Friendships flourish when both parties feel seen and heard.
Remember, friendships take time and effort, but the joy and support they bring are immeasurable. Let's bridge the liking gap and cultivate meaningful connections that enrich our lives. ππ

Do you feel the overload of being constantly bombarded with an copious amounts of information? π§
π Take a moment to reflect on the words of Harvard Biologist E.O. Wilson: "We are drowning in information, while starving for wisdom." π
While access to information is essential, it's equally important to cultivate wisdom in our lives. Wisdom is about discernment, insight, and applying the knowledge you gain in meaningful ways. π‘
By pausing to reflect, be mindful, and slow down, you can access your inner wisdom amidst the information overload. Let's pause, reflect, and integrate what we learn into our lives, allowing it to shape our actions and decisions. π±
Resilience is built in the moments when we practice tolerating a tough feeling, not pushing it away. -Dr. Becky
