Round 2!
This morning, candidates completed the Physical Assessment exam, marking another important step in our firefighter hiring process.
As part of our continued commitment to firefighter wellness and operational readiness, our department has placed a renewed emphasis on physical fitness and maintaining the capabilities necessary to serve our community safely and effectively.
The hiring process continues next week with the Physical Agility Exam, where candidates will face even greater physical challenges designed to evaluate the strength, stamina, and determination required for a career in the fire service.

🚒 Big Things Are Coming! 🚒
After years of planning, collaboration, and hard work, we’re excited to share that our new ladder truck is nearing completion and is currently in the final stages of production in Wisconsin!
What started as a basic apparatus design evolved into something much greater. Last year, we worked closely with the manufacturer to redesign and customize the truck, ensuring it would meet the unique needs of our community and provide our firefighters with the tools necessary to serve at the highest level. The result is a ladder truck built specifically for our department and the citizens we proudly serve.
This ladder truck represents a significant investment in public safety and will enhance our ability to respond to fires, rescues, and other emergencies for years to come. It is a much-needed addition to our fleet and will strengthen our capabilities as our community continues to grow.
We will be conducting our final inspection later this month before bringing it home, and if all goes as planned, the truck will be placed into service within the next few months.
Keep in mind, the truck isn’t finished just yet! It still needs its department decals, graphics, and final touches. What you’re seeing now is not the completed product, and we can’t wait to reveal the finished ladder truck to our community.
We’re incredibly excited to see this project becoming a reality and look forward to bringing it home soon. The countdown is officially on! Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to welcoming the newest addition to our fleet. 🚒

Members of our Special Operations Team, including personnel assigned to Texas A&M Task Force 3, trained alongside our local public safety partners to strengthen flood rescue capabilities.
The training focused on boat operations, swift water rescue techniques, and coordinated response efforts to ensure our teams remain prepared for natural disasters, heavy rainfall, flooding, and other water-related emergencies.
With the potential for increased rainfall and severe weather across the Rio Grande Valley in the coming days, these exercises serve as an important reminder of the commitment our first responders make to stay ready when our community needs them most. Training today means being prepared tomorrow.
