On Friday, July 17th from 3 to 6 PM celebrate Missoula Public Library’s 5th year in your beautiful, award-winning downtown library with a community block party on Main Street! Bring your friends, family, and community spirit for an opening reception with Director Slaven Lee and our AUOR Partners, guest speakers Nicole Gomez and Chris La Tray, an opening song with Brittney Hunter Brittney Hunter and Shawn White Grass Shawn White Grass, with live music from DJ Coach Shane and the Missoula Tuba Ensemble, one hour of free hot dogs from Food Not Bombs, Dreamy’s Soft Serve, and Puma Peruvian & Eclectic Cuisine. Enjoy giant bubbles and sidewalk chalk with MPL Youth Services, hands-on science activities and demonstrations from spectrUM Discovery Area, creative Blue Blocks play with Families First, a library memory booth with MCAT, an interactive brain activity with UM Living Lab, and additional activities with Missoula Children’s Theatre, Clark Fork Prep, and EmpowerMT. Celebrate the connections, creativity, and community that have made the past five years unforgettable.
We are so grateful to the incredible community partners who are helping make our 5th Birthday Block Party a celebration to remember! Memory Café is a welcoming and supportive space for individuals experiencing memory loss and their caregivers and family members held on the second Tuesday of every month. This month, Angi McClure of Bamboo Bodies Bamboo Bodies® Fitness helps us adapt to the changes of aging by training the nervous system through Qigong, breathing drills, vision & balance training. Learn how to bend and not break!
