Emergency cold-weather overnight shelters will open at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 16 and are expected to open nightly through Wednesday if temperatures remain below 40. Check back here for updates.

UPDATE Jan. 14, 2026
• The coordinated cold-weather shelter effort begun on Jan. 11 will continue overnight on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
• Overnights Jan. 11, 12, and 13, three Mobile, Alabama shelters (Waterfront Rescue Mission, McKemie Place, and Salvation Army) provided shelter to more than 375 people and served more than 1,000 meals.
• Multiple organizations are supporting this sheltering effort. Mobile County Emergency Management Agency is helping coordinate operations.
• Beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at least one additional shelter will open to families or women and children who may be without adequate heat or otherwise need cold-weather shelter. Information about additional shelters will be released on Thursday morning.
