At the Mobile County Recycling Center, recycled glass is pulverized into sand that can be used in construction projects throughout our community. 🏖️

Since October 2025, the Recycling Center has provided more than 250,000 pounds of recycled sand for use across Mobile County. That's thousands of pounds of material diverted from the landfill and put back to work in a meaningful way. 🌎

Our Glass Pulverizer from Andela Products is transforming old glass bottles into clean, usable sand, and we’re loving the results! 🍾

The best part? No more sorting by color. Clear, green, and brown glass all go into the pulverizer together and pure sand comes out. That sand will be used by Mobile County in construction projects, giving a new life to old glass bottles.

That leftover cooking grease can lead to costly plumbing repairs and sewer backups. Instead, recycle it the easy way with Mobile Area Water & Sewer System (MAWSS) and the Mobile County Recycling Center. 💧

Here’s how to help prevent grease blockages in just three simple steps.

1️⃣ Pick up a free grease recycling container or use your own leak-proof container.
2️⃣ Fill it with cooled cooking grease from your kitchen.
3️⃣ Drop it off at the Mobile County Recycling Center.
