Godliness is not a matter of our imitating God but a growing reflection of His image through the devotion of faith in Jesus Christ that brings a progressive transformation of life. Imitation saints profess a certain godliness but when time and tribulation take their toll their lives belie the power of transforming grace. To profess is one thing, to possess is another and to practice is far yet the proof of the profession.
“…..having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people”(2 Timothy 3:5).
