A huge thank you to Dr Brian Winnie, Dr Jason Hawkins and the Western Illinois University Choirs for hosting our Chamber Singers as part of their Choral Master Works performance of Schubert’s Mass in G! We had a wonderful visit, exploring campus, staying overnight at a university dorm, sitting in on a conducting class, and of course, making music with the tremendous vocalists at WIU. On Friday, 2/13, our amazing music faculty, Mitchell Carter, will present a seminar titled "Best Practices: Making The Most Of Your Practice Time".

Musicians often hear that the solution to most of their musical problems is to simply “practice.” But what does that really mean? How can you do it more effectively? And how can you make the most of it with limited time and resources?

This seminar will explore some ways to answer these questions. We will explore how to prepare for a quality practice session, what good practicing should include, and how to meaningfully reflect on the practice session to set yourself up for future success. We will also have an opportunity to create personalized, functional practice plans that you can put into action right away!
