Every model for forecasting looked over by Fortune in November had predicted that the massive home price growth would slow down in 2022. But just a few months into the year, we've already seen that consensus completely fall apart.

Zillow had predicted the 12-month rate of home price growth would slow down to 11% by the end of 2022. However, it got more even more bullish in January—with the website revising that 2022 home price growth rate up to 16.4%. Now Zillow again has decided even that rate was way too conservative. Now, Zillow predicts the year-over-year rate to peak at 21.6% in May, this would set an all time record and to end the year at 17.3%.
