George Walton Academy

Our Story

Established in 1969, George Walton Academy is a PreK3-12 college prep school that equips students for success in college and in life beyond their formal studies. Located on 60 wooded acres in the heart of Monroe, Georgia, we currently welcome over 800 students to our campus every day from Walton, Newton, Rockdale, Oconee, Morgan, Gwinnett and Barrow counties. Our mission is to prepare students to become contributing citizens and leaders in a global society by promoting intellectual, physical, artistic and ethical excellence.

The Academy is governed by a self-perpetuating Board of Trustees and is a member of the Southern Association of Independent Schools, Georgia Independent School Association and Georgia High School Association. We are accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission, Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
