I think this is fascinating how slow CDs were react to a 40 year trend line breaking event than was the bond market. Now that we have a bid in CDs and you don't have to ask your banker if he can do any better than 50 bips... I wonder what the CD rate rate curve is trying to tell us.
Have you noticed that was. nd wondering what CDs are trying to tell us if you look at how they are being priced?
For example a 3 yr rate at 5.00 % and a 5 year rate at 5.50% are incredible compared to what we saw the last 5 years, but then you get paid nothing for longer durations as the curve falls off the cliff. Interesting times.
Anyone have an opinion? Please share it. My Guess, is that I would not lock it up too many years. Enjoy!
