On Day 7, history came to life in Normandy for our SMCC French travelers.

Students visited several important World War II sites, including the remains of the Mulberry Harbor at Arromanches, the Normandy American Cemetery, and Omaha Beach. Reflecting on the events that unfolded there provided a meaningful opportunity to deepen their understanding of history and honor the sacrifices made by so many.

Congratulations to recent SMCC graduate Joyce Dietrich ('26) on receiving the Accepting the Challenge of Excellence Award from the Exchange Club of Monroe, Michigan during its annual awards luncheon.

This award recognizes a student who has overcome personal challenges while demonstrating success in school and the community. Joyce's achievements, resilience, and commitment to her goals make her a deserving recipient of this honor.

This summer, Joyce will complete her prerequisite coursework at Monroe County Community College before attending Wayne State University to pursue a career in radiology.

We are proud of all that Joyce has accomplished and look forward to seeing the impact she will make in the years ahead. Congratulations, Joyce!
