Experienced Gardener Wanted: Montclair, NJ
Part time, freelance, position maintaining upscale, private residential gardens for noted landscape design firm. Previous gardening plus knowledge of common plants and horticulture practices important. Seeking strong individuals that are not afraid of manual labor, getting dirty and, at times, working in heat and light rain.
Job responsibilities include:
Weeding, pruning, deadheading and staking
Trouble-shooting landscape issues
Opportunity for container design, season and holiday decorating
Position requires own vehicle, tools, English language fluency and the ability to communicate comfortably with clients as needed. Hires must be able to work on their own with agility and speed and in variable weather conditions. A flair for the creative container design is a huge plus.
Work is seasonal and hours are somewhat flexible with fluctuations based on the weather. Position is freelance and paid on an hourly basis. Prefer local resident familiar with the area and resources. Hourly rate negotiable based on experience.

PROFESSIONAL GARDENER FOR HIGH-END PROPERTY LANDSCAPE CARE

Seeking knowledgeable, personable Master Gardener for seasonal, part time position with well established, high-end residential landscape design/build firm. Our clients own beautiful properties in the Montclair/Glen Ridge area
and require customized garden care with a personal touch.

Familiarity with sound horticultural practices, zone 6 hardy plants, their names and general horticultural needs is required. Tasks include: pruning, weeding, inter-planting, lifting, dividing, dead heading, bulb installations, plus pest/disease awareness. Seasonal container design is integral to our work, and ease with showy annual displays in containers is a huge plus - although not required.

Candidate must have own vehicle and tools, and be able to work swiftly and independently in various weather conditions. Work is physically demanding and requires an appropriate level of fitness. Flexible scheduling can include 20 to 40 hours a week based on your availability. Position offers $ 25/hour to qualified candidates who can commit to regular hours for the season.

Nursery Caretaker/ Gardener

1-2 hours daily Monday through Saturday, mornings preferred, working outdoors at private farm location in Clifton, NJ caring for proprietary plant inventory for landscape design/build firm.
Experience with plants or nursery stock a plus. Good communication/obseration skills and own vehicle are necessary.
Work includes checking inventory daily, hand watering as needed to supplement irrigation system, deadheading/cutting back when necessary. Primary task is keeping plant stock healthy and looking its best!
Must be willing to work on your own in varying weather conditions but hours are flexible. This is a great job for a student needing part time work or a retiree looking for paid time out of doors .
Will train. Work outside nursery hours available for the correct candidate.

Monday - Saturday. Hourly rate starts at $15/hour
