Here's the part nobody warns you about: when men begin uncovering what they've carried — the roles, the armor, the old survival strategies — they often feel worse before they feel better. Not because something's going wrong. Because something's finally moving.

Every myth has this moment. The dark night of the soul. The hero chooses to stay in the struggle, even when it looks hopeless. That choice — made without knowing the outcome — is what starts the transformation.

And every hero has support in that moment. Luke had Yoda. Arthur had Merlin.

Men today have Breakthrough.

For nearly 40 years, we've built the space to hold men through exactly this part of the journey — not to fix them, but to walk with them while they find out who they are on the other side of it.

Today was a day.

Last night, I was told a family member may be dying within 24 hours. This morning, I received a call from a man in our community who is in the hospital with cancer.

And at the same time, life is still beautiful. Relationships are still meaningful. Joy is still present. Miracles are still happening.

At Breakthrough, we learn the skill of holding opposite truths at the same time.

Life is beautiful, and life is tragic.
I am capable, and sometimes I feel like I am not.
I am worthy, and sometimes I struggle to believe it.

Real self-esteem is not pretending the hard feelings are not there. It is learning to hold them alongside the deeper truth of who we are.

This morning, life got real.

And thanks to Breakthrough, I held it all in both hands.
