๐ด๐ REST IS NOT A LUXURY, ITโS A NECESSITY ๐๐ด
For many Service Members, Veterans, and Military Families, life rarely slows down. Between military duties, civilian careers, family responsibilities, school activities, deployments, and everyday stress, it can feel like thereโs always something that needs your attention.
But rest is not being lazy. Rest is part of maintaining your readiness, resilience, and overall well being.
โ ๏ธ Signs You May Need More Rest:
๐น Constant fatigue, even after sleeping
๐น Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
๐น Increased irritability or mood swings
๐น Feeling overwhelmed by small tasks
๐น Frequent headaches or muscle tension
๐น Loss of motivation
๐น Increased anxiety or stress
๐น Trouble sleeping despite feeling exhausted
๐ก Rest Doesnโt Always Mean Sleep
There are many ways to recharge your mind and body:
๐ด Get adequate sleep each night
๐ถ Take a walk outside
๐ต Put down your phone and disconnect from social media
๐ Read a book for enjoyment
๐ฃ Spend time on a hobby you enjoy
๐ง Practice mindfulness, prayer, or meditation
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ Spend quality time with loved ones
๐ณ Enjoy nature and fresh air
๐ง Stay hydrated and take care of your physical health
๐บ๐ธ For National Guard Service Members, readiness includes taking care of yourself. A rested mind is better equipped to handle challenges, make sound decisions, and support your family, fellow Soldiers, and mission.
โค๏ธ If youโre feeling overwhelmed, remember that asking for help is a sign of strength.

๐ June is PTSD Awareness Month ๐
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can affect anyone who has experienced or witnessed a traumatic event. For Service Members, Veterans, and Military Families, experiences such as combat, training accidents, military sexual trauma, natural disasters, serious injuries, or the loss of a loved one can have lasting impacts on mental health.
PTSD is not a sign of weakness. It is a normal response to abnormal and often life-changing events.
โ ๏ธ Common signs of PTSD may include:
๐น Nightmares or trouble sleeping
๐น Flashbacks or unwanted memories
๐น Feeling constantly on guard or easily startled
๐น Avoiding people, places, or situations that trigger memories
๐น Irritability, anger, or mood changes
๐น Difficulty concentrating
๐น Feelings of guilt, shame, or isolation
Family members may notice these signs before the individual recognizes them. If you are concerned about a loved one, start a conversation and encourage them to seek support.
๐ค Recovery is possible, and no one has to face PTSD alone.
