Today we recognize Autistic Pride Day, an autistic-led movement that celebrates autistic identity, community, and self-determination.

Autistic Pride Day was created by autistic people to shift the conversation beyond awareness and toward something deeper: belonging, respect, and real systems change. It is rooted in the belief that autistic people should not only be included in conversations about autism—but should lead them.

Please join us for the PBS and WV ACES Coalition Adverse Childhood Experiences live webinar. This training is held over the course of three days. All three sessions must be attended consecutively. Aimed to provide an overview of ACES, prevention, and resiliency, this training is geared for professionals to enhance their skills.

Join us on May 19th-21st, at 10am for our Positive Parenting Program Seminar Series!

The Center for Excellence in Disabilities at WVU is hosting a three-part Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) webinar series via Zoom for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities who are up to 12 years old. These free webinars provide general information about promoting child development.

Each three-day series will feature the same topics each session:

Topic 1: Positive Parenting for Children with a Disability
Topic 2: Helping Your Child Reach Their Potential
Topic 3: Changing Problem Behavior into Positive Behavior

In each webinar, a Parent Network Specialist and Triple P practitioner from the WV F2F and P4P Programs will lead the presentation. A behavior specialist from the Positive Behavior Support (PBS) program will also participate to conduct a Questions & Answer session for tips and strategies. Parenting Tip Packets will be made available to all participants.

The Parental Buy-In training helps professionals build trust, strengthen collaboration, and engage caregivers as active partners in the behavior support process. Participants learn strategies to address resistance with empathy, coach parents in emotional literacy and co-regulation, and co-create sustainable family-centered plans.

After attending, you will be able to:

Understand how trust, empathy, and collaboration influence caregiver engagement and long-term behavior change.

Learn strategies to address resistance and build psychological safety through reflective, nonjudgmental communication.

Practice coaching techniques that strengthen parents’ emotional literacy, co-regulation, and confidence.

Apply family-centered approaches to co-create practical, sustainable behavior support plans.
