An artist from day one, Melody Jarrell, a proud Braxton County 4-H’er, is headed to WVU this fall to pursue a degree in art and design, a passion that grew and blossomed through West Virginia 4-H . 🎨

Over the years, Melody has had a quilt block on display at the Smithsonian as part of a national collaborative quilt, created her own full 4-H quilt that is now on display at the West Virginia Culture Center at the Capitol in Charleston, and won best in show 3 times for art related 4-H projects at the State Fair of West Virginia. Through 4-H, she was also able to explore a wide range of artistic outlets, including wood burning, painting, clay and other hands-on projects at camp.

“4-H helped me turn something I enjoyed into something I actually want to do for my career,” Melody said. “It showed me I could take my art further, especially with the support and inspiration from my mom, dad, and aunt.” 🖌🪡✏
