The Oregon Fish & Wildlife Department is hiring a Natural Resource Specialist 2 (Instream Flow Study Assistant). The Instream Flow Study Assistant will lead field staff in developing and conducting instream flow studies on streams to determine instream base flows. S/he will determine base flow needs for fish is one component of the Integrated Water Resources Strategy (IWRS). The strategy is designed to help Oregon meet its future water needs in terms of water quantity, water quality, and ecosystem functions by coordinating efforts between agencies at the state level, providing the tools and coordination needed by local governments and working constructively with federal agencies. The Instream Flow Study Assistant will work with the Instream Flow Specialist to identify which streams need studies, design the studies and then conduct the studies. S/he will coordinate and oversee 2 seasonal surveyors, integrate survey results into a relational database, manage and analyze extensive datasets, and work with the Water Policy Coordinator to prepare and submit the necessary documents to apply for instream water rights
