New World Screwworm and Idaho's new import requirements: Many of you have heard about the New World Screwworm (NWS). It is a significant parasite that affects all warm-blooded animals. There are now several confirmed cases in Texas and New Mexico. The Idaho Department of Agriculture just issued a new Administrative Order concerning import (including returning to) Idaho if you travel to an infected state or zone. You must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection within five days of entering or returning to Idaho. This includes all warm-blooded companion animals. The ISDA is recommending avoiding travel with your companion animals to infected areas if at all possible.
