🎧 Summer reading does not always have to look like sitting down with a book.

For a lot of families, summer means road trips, errands, waiting rooms, and days that never slow down long enough to crack open a chapter. And that is completely normal. But here is something worth knowing: listening counts too.

Audiobooks are one of the most underused tools in a young reader's world. They build vocabulary, strengthen listening comprehension, and most importantly, they keep kids connected to stories during the months when reading loss is most likely to happen. Pop one on during a car ride, a quiet afternoon, or even while folding laundry together, and your child is learning without it feeling like work at all.

The Colquitt County Educational Foundation believes that literacy lives everywhere, not just in classrooms and not just on the page. This summer, let stories meet your family wherever you are.

Moultrie-Colquitt County Library System offers free audiobooks through Libby App, available with nothing more than a library card.

Behind every confident, thriving adult is a string of people who poured into them along the way. A grandmother. A Sunday school teacher. A coach who stayed late. Most of them never knew how much they mattered.

Now it is your turn to be that person for a student in Colquitt County.

The Colquitt County Educational Foundation is hosting FREE mentor training on Thursday, July 16 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. You bring the willingness. We will give you everything else you need.

Clint has been a mentor since 2022, part of one of our very first groups of trained mentors. Since then, he's built something special! He's mentored the same student since Sedrick was in 2nd grade.
