On Sunday, June 28, Executive Director Phil Gilchrist and Social Media Coordinator Autumn Colombo teamed up to participate in The Cleanup Club's Clinton River Spillway Cleanup! In total, over 300 pounds of trash was picked up, leaving behind a cleaner waterway so we can all continue to enjoy it for generations to come.

The Clinton River is a treasure to our community. How do you experience and enjoy the river? And what do you want to see happen so that it continues to thrive? The Clinton River Watershed Council is asking people to share their opinions in this 5-minute survey. Please complete the survey and share it with your friends, family, and neighbors: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CRWC2026

has always been more than a holiday. On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas with the news that the more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state were free.

Today, we celebrate resilience and perseverance in the face of oppression, and honor those who continue the fight. Happy Juneteenth!

On June 4, we had the honor of hosting our Spring 2026 Nonprofit Accelerator cohort members to enjoy a closing toast complete with good food, great company, and a presentation of certificates for all their hard work over the past few months.

During this session of the Accelerator, cohort participants and our partners covered a variety of topics from leadership and governance, to fundraising and grant writing, to decision-making led by data.

We'd like to say a special thank you to Accelerator alumni Starkweather Arts Center for hosting the toast at their beautiful, historic building in downtown Romeo.

We are so proud of this cohort and look forward to all the wonderful things they will accomplish in the future!
