Thank you to Pastor Gary and Karen Marshall for joining us in sharing Mount Dora’s history. On this , we're sharing photos from yesterday’s dedication ceremony for a new historical marker installed by the congregation in front of the historic Congregational Church. Pastor Marshall placed the church on the city’s list of historic buildings to protect it for future generations. Next time you walk by the church, please take a moment to learn a little history about Mount Dora’s oldest remaining church building.

Gary Duvall was a Mount Dora resident.
Honoring a Local Hero 🇺🇸
The Marine Corps League Bill Hughes Detachment 1240 recently honored the life and sacrifice of Lance Cpl. Gary Lee DuVall during a wreath-laying ceremony at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
DuVall, a Pennsylvania native who later lived in Central Florida, was just 19 years old when he was killed by a sniper while serving in Vietnam in 1967. During the ceremony, Richard Cronin shared DuVall's story and reflected on the freedoms Americans have enjoyed because of the sacrifices made by service members like him.
The ceremony included a wreath presentation by Bob Grenier and Ed Tillet, the playing of taps by Wes Locke and a Color Guard led by John Julian and Commander Terry Binkley. Members of the Marine Corps League say they hope to continue honoring local fallen heroes with similar ceremonies in the future.
🇺🇸 Thank you, Lance Cpl. Gary Lee DuVall, for your service and ultimate sacrifice. Never forgotten.
