Providence In The Pines

The timing of the Coronavirus could not have been worse for Providence. We really felt like we were starting to get our legs under us and were making good progress. Then the world stopped.

Ben and I have decided we need to focus on our other businesses here in Mt Gilead at this time and as a result of that decision, we will not be reopening Providence. We both still feel that there’s a future for a restaurant at The Ford Place but need to focus our attention and energy on The Vintage and Cotton & Wood.

We would like to thank everyone that supported our endeavor. We were both overwhelmed by the support from the patrons and to those that helped with boots on ground.

Huge shoutout to Lewis Dorsett for all his woodworking skills; Curtis Jacobs for the many, many things he accomplished; and Cathy Poole, Peggy Evans, Tim Evans and Jim Kiser for your painting skills. Also a big thanks to the whole staff at Providence for enduring us, accepting the changes and being top notch. Two of those staff in particular justify recognition. Biancia Green, behind those double kitchen doors, for stretching her wings and bringing her most delicious desserts to the game. And Taryn Gross - where to start. Providence would never have been possible without the talents and dedication of Taryn Gross. She absolutely rocks!!! Taryn went BEYOND the call of duty so many times there is no way to keep count and her knowledge of the restaurant business was invaluable. Ben and I tip our hats to you.

We believe there is a need and an opportunity for a great restaurant at The Ford Place. We’d be honored if someone even thought that PROVIDENCE IN THE PINES was the name of that successful endeavor.
