Its been a few minutes since we've done a Procharged engine. While this is nothing special, I an very pleased with the results. It was an original 502 Mag with an existing M1 Procharger that was in need of a rebuild and more power. Its now 509 finish a set ilof Brodix Race Rite heads. We obviously change the cam to a larger hyd roller. We pulled spme compression out of it with JE inverted dome pistons and a better set of rods. This was originally a Mefi 1 setup, which has no ability to tune in boost and run a 2 BAR Map sensor. We found a complete intake setup with ecm and harness from a later Mag with a Mefi 3. We ditched the entire Procharger fuel system for something better. I didnt do any port work to the intake as I didnt feel it was needed for the power we were after.
The first dyno attempt didn't go so well. It was breaking up really badly at 4800 or so. Long story short, the intercooler was leaking like a fire hose. Procharger wanted 2k for a replacement and didn't have it. So, we went another route. We got a slightly larger core that we'll remote mount in the boat. We've done it numerous times in the past and it's worked great.
When it was all done, the engine made 775 hp and just shy of 800.ft lbs with just a tick over 6 psi boost. As I said, I was pleased with the results for something so simple. I'll still take a Whipple 100 out of 100 times.
