We're proud to share the story of Dr. Peter Davies, one of the most important Alzheimer's researchers of his generation, and one of the least assuming people you'd ever meet.

His neighbors knew him as the kind man in the Pink Floyd T-shirt who loved his garden. The scientific world knew him as the researcher whose discoveries helped produce the first treatments for Alzheimer's disease.

Labs & Labyrinths captures both sides of Peter Davies. It's a book about science, mentorship, and what it means to dedicate a life to something bigger than yourself.

What makes a scientist truly great?

For Peter Davies, it wasn't just the discoveries, though those were foundational. It was what he did with them. He developed the antibodies that helped define Alzheimer's pathology, then gave them away freely to researchers around the world.

Labs & Labyrinths: The Life and Work of Alzheimer's Research Pioneer Dr. Peter Davies tells the story of a scientist who changed the course of a disease and quietly shaped a generation of researchers along the way.

Many people know Peter Davies for his contributions to Alzheimer's research. Those who knew him remember much more: his curiosity, generosity, humor, and dedication to mentoring the next generation of scientists.

As Dr. Alison Goate writes: "This book recounts the life and story of a great scientist and a humble man, a fitting tribute to a wonderful friend and colleague."

Labs and Labyrinths: The Life and Work of Alzheimer's Research Pioneer Dr. Peter Davies offers a unique look at the scientist, mentor, and friend behind the discoveries.

Last night at The New York Academy of Medicine, New Vision Research hosted the official launch of Labs and Labyrinths, a book honoring the life and legacy of Alzheimer’s researcher Peter Davies.

The evening brought together colleagues, friends, and members of Dr. Davies’ family for a scientific symposium and a deeply meaningful reflection on his contributions to tau pathology research and the broader Alzheimer’s field.

We were especially grateful for remarks from Melissa E. Murray and Benjamin Wolozin, whose insights, memories, and scientific perspectives helped illuminate both the impact of Dr. Davies’ work and his influence on generations of researchers.

Labs and Labyrinths is a tribute to a scientific legacy that continues to shape the field today. The book is now available for purchase at newvisionresearch.org.
