This is what I mean when I say the product isn’t the canvas, it’s what the light does with it. I painted this one to hold shadow and depth no matter where it ends up, and so far it hasn’t let me down.

I think about this a lot.

How many women slowly disappear.

Not all at once, but quietly. Somewhere between being a wife and a mom, an employee and a caretaker.

You stop existing for yourself. You exist for everyone else.

You’re the one behind the camera. Always.

You pour so much into making sure everyone around you feels loved and seen, and somewhere along the way, you forget what it feels like to be on the receiving end of that.

Maybe that’s why portraiture means so much to me.

It has never really been about taking beautiful photographs.

It’s about creating a space where, even for just a little while, someone gets to feel seen.

Because I think we all deserve that.
