CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS:
The Reinvesting in Historic Homes Update Program (ReHHUP) is a volunteer-run grant and loan program that assists exterior renovation projects in Mount Vernon's historical neighborhoods. We focus on restoring neighborhoods by rewarding property owners’ investments in their piece of the street. We currently operate in Mount Vernon’s East End, but we hope to research expanding the program to the North Main area in the future.
We are seeking volunteers to fill the following roles:
• Committee members to evaluate grant and loan applications and make decisions about the program’s direction.
• Writers and researchers interested in compiling guides to preserving historic homes by researching and composing technical manuals. We are seeking individuals with preexisting historical expertise regarding Mount Vernon’s housing and neighborhoods, in particular.
• Surveyors interested in volunteering to survey homeowners and tenants in project areas to gauge impact and need. Photographers especially welcome.
MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attend monthly meetings on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30-7:00 PM
• Complete one hour of work a week
• Evaluate grant applications and committee proposals prior to meetings for discussion
If the ReHHUP Committee’s work appeals to you, please send a letter of interest and resume to [email protected] including what assistance you believe you can offer the committee.
