Indoor/outdoor living, with a surprise!

This pool house was designed around a single architectural move: a full wall of pocketing glass doors that disappears entirely, dissolving the boundary between the patio and the great room. When open, the interior ceiling read as one continuous plane, so the space never feels like it “starts” at a threshold.

Inside, the volume does the heavy lifting. A double-height ceiling gives room for a sculptural wood-and-blue marquetry installation to anchor the far wall — a piece that’s as much acoustic as it is art, pulling the eye up and breaking the scale of the room down. Blown-glass globe pendants drop at varying heights to reinforce that verticality without competing with the piece.

Material palette stays deliberately restrained: warm walnut millwork, a sage-green lacquer backsplash, and a single dark, textured fireplace surround that acts as a room divider between the dining zone and the lounge — double-sided, so it reads to both the interior and the covered terrace beyond.

And tucked into the circulation core: a curved floating stair paired with a glass-enclosed elevator, and the surprise: A FULL BOULDERING WALL built into the adjacent living space. (Proof, that even the “utility” moments here were designed as experiences, not afterthoughts.)

This is what a guest house looks like when it’s treated with the same rigor as the primary residence.
