3/18 Craberry triplets! 🥰 Phew, I'm tired (these are the final set of "winter" babies), but first time mama put in the real long work. Yesterday Cranberry was fine for most of the day, just had a bigger udder and dropped belly. By 7:30pm I started seeing more of the preparing actions, pawing, back leg straight, and the first slime drips. By 10, no big progress. I figured I would be checking every 2 hours thru the whole night. I felt too lucky that the others were all so good, didn't want to assume. So D went to bed and set 3am alarm to check and give me a longer sleep if she's still not close. I was still betting on before sunrise. By 1am, she was closer but yep still not showing, so I went to bed with my clothes on just in case.

D ran in shortly after 3am and said one baby halfway cleaned! I would guess no more than 15 min before. Cute light brown girl 4.1 # was up walking fairly soon. Multiple times I thought Cranberry was ready to go again, but it just didn't happen. Baby girl didn't get to nurse because mama kept cleaning her and also not settling down. Around 3:15 or 3:30 she finally started pushing a bubble, but it went back in. Then got up and moved to a new spot. By 3:45 she started again. There was a bubble and then some air sounds, almost like there was a pushing next to it. Mentally paused but not long because she started pushing again and the bubble got bigger and she pushed out a big 5.7 # light brown/tan heavy moonspotted girl. Helped wipe her and noticed a small bit of meconium p**p right at the end as if with the final squeeze. Moved her to mama's face and no more than 5 min before she was pushing again - a tail!

Coming fast and clearly small, so no time to do anything but help pull. Smooth birth, though worried for a second because baby seemed a little limp like it had been squished. They must've been trying to come to close together, thus the delay and bubble oddness. I quickly wiped and use the sucking bulb (same as human babies) and baby boy was okay! 4.0 # light brown with frosted ears and a few moonspots. A bit of a cleaning job for mama, so I alternated between the two so she could love on both. I stayed till 5:30am to make sure they were all good, get more blurry pictures (especially hard to catch all together!), all nursed at least some, then all settled in for a nap. I got up at 8 to go check and they were okay but giving a little more assistance was good. By this evening, they were all adjusting better... A happy end to this bunch of birthings. 10 safe healthy gorgeous babies, 5 girls, 5 boys, and 5 wonderful mamas doing well. Grateful ♥️🐐

2/14/25 Dulce triplets on Valentine's. As it's been with a few, I was watching her udder and it got bigger the last few days, notably more last night and then huge p**f this morning. This sweet mild mannered mama was calm with fairly normal attitude, ate fine, laid in the back pen for a bit, but mostly seemed to rest. I figured she would wait till evening and I went on with doing rain/cold prep for what's coming. I checked her just before 6pm and she was progressing. Next about 7:30 and she was definitely in position in the front corner with a while much of others resting around her. I wanted to move her to a pen, for my ease, but didn't want to stop her progress. And good thing I didn't since within 5 min she was having clear contractions. I grabbed the kidding towels and the other goats got up and left as I came back with my arms full.

Dulce stood with her back near the wall, pushed a handful of times and baby started coming with sack in tact, breaking just as I helped catch him (because why not). 7:40 solid dark brown boy. She turned her head to look but that's all, so I wiped his face quickly and put him closer and she went right to licking. Other goats came to get a closer look. One, newish mama Bo, was even concerned by the little peep sounds and acted like she might be willing to take over if allowed. It was all sweet.

Then no more than 10-15 min later she pushed again, another coming with in tact sack. 7:55? Light brown boy with making like her. Since she was cleaning the other, I didn't wait to bring him forward to her. Then maybe 1 min later, a push and another practically flew out. I barely realized she had pushed, when boom, baby was on the ground. Girl solid dark brown similar to brother. This one it was good I was there since Dulce was preoccupied. Baby girl was awkwardly folded almost upside down because of a dip in the bedding, and with a delay, she could have drowned in the fluid and sack still on her face. But I got her, toweled off big glops, and put at mama's face with brothers. Dulce worked on her while I helped finish the second boy. The first was standing and trying to find his way to nursing. Bo came back and was even more interested and concerned, but a small hand gesture and she didn't interfere. After a bit of cleaning, I felt everything was good enough to leave to get her molasses water. Of course when I set it down, others wanted some. So I shooed them away, she got a couple gulps, then I set it aside. I decided it was time to move her to a pen so she could settle in and have solo uninterrupted access to her feed and water. Moving three newborns was a challenge, but thankfully not too hard with good timing for everyone to still be calm in their snuggle piles. Then I made sure they all were able to relatch on their own for nursing. And thankfully all done before the rain storm really hit. Such a LOVELY birthing for this day or any. 3 healthy sweet babies for Dulce, sweet mama a second time. ♥️♥️♥️
