Anyone local want to meet the Republican Lieutenant Governor Candidate in person? Here is your chance!

It was a privelege to participate in the Mental Health and Addictions Candidate Forum this evening. Not only am I passionate about mental health as it provides a foundation to address the diverse issues in our community, but this is an area of expertise for me.
Professionally, I have over 30 years practicing as an Registered Nurse. As a healthcare professional, I received comprehensive training in mental health. As an Administrator over multiple mental health/dementia units, I provided extensive training for staff on these units. I wrote and created a policy/procedure manual for a psychiatric hospital that was preparing to open. I also taught mental health nursing clinicals (my favorite type of clinical) where I helped students overcome stereotypes and fears, find personal application through learning practical tools for their own wellbeing that could also be used to help others, and observe firsthand how successful treatment can help an individual get their life back.
Personally, I have worked with others, including family, suffering with addiction, dementia, and mental illness. I have advocated for community members with mental health needs. I also have attended multiple support groups to learn about them so I could effectively refer people and actively support their outreaches. I regularly attend a support group myself to break stigmas and offer my friendship and support to others who struggle.
Legislatively, I want to nurture collaborative effort to advocate for our community based on data, not politically driven issues. I plan to drive positive change for Muncie through effective legislation and ask for the support of the community to do this. Let's find ways to move Muncie forward together!
