🚑☢️ Preparedness starts with training.

Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency recently partnered with local public safety agencies to host MERRTT (Modular Emergency Response Radiological Transportation Training). This specialized course equips first responders with the knowledge and skills needed to safely respond to transportation incidents involving radioactive materials.

Through hands-on scenarios and classroom instruction, participants strengthened their understanding of hazard recognition, scene safety, protective actions, and coordinated response procedures.

Training like this helps ensure our community's first responders are prepared for both everyday emergencies and low-frequency, high-consequence incidents. Thank you to everyone who participated and to our instructors for sharing their expertise and commitment to preparedness.

* Still dangerously hot and humid for Independence Day. Keep hydrated and take precautions during outdoor events. There will be scattered storms again in the afternoon and evening. These could impact your events and fireworks, so keep eyes to the skies and on radar.

* Next week will not be as hot, but still very warm and humid. There will be scattered showers and storms each day, especially in the afternoon and evening hours. A few may have strong gusty winds and heavy downpours.
