As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary today, I’m reminded of why our country is so great.

It’s not because of amazing presidents, leaders, governors, or mayors. This quote always rings in my mind when thinking about why America has been such a great country over the years.

“I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her commodious harbors and her ample rivers, and it was not there; in her fiertile fields and boundless prairies, and it was not there; in her rich mines and her vast world commerce, and it was not there. Not until I went to the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great." -- Alexis de Tocqueville

You see, America isn’t great because of its mighty army, or any other reason. America is great because it was founded on Judaeo Christian principals with Christ at the center.

America doesn’t have an official national religion like some countries do because, rightfully so, it was founded with the belief that you have the right to choose who you serve. But, our founding father's knew one thing: all rights come from our Creator. Just because you have the right to make your own choice, does not make all choices right.

There is only one God, and only one way to heaven—Christ Jesus. You can believe in any other "god" you want, but Jesus Christ said "I am the way, the truth, and the life" in John 14:6.

So, why is America, the great experiment, celebrating its 250th anniversary today? No reason other than God's blessing.

I praise God often for being born in America and for being an American. I believe there is no better country on earth. But, more importantly, I am a citizen of Heaven because of my faith and trust in Jesus Christ.
