Bittersweet in every way but excited to make it feel like ours 🩷 NC, we’re home!

10 years ago, on my very first Mother’s Day, I brought my oldest home from the hospital.

It felt special that today we got to celebrate his birthday on Mother’s Day. A full circle 10 years later moment. And honestly, I loved doing something with him that brought him SO MUCH JOY. He was giddy all day and that made me GIDDY!! 🩵 It fills my cup as a mom to see my kids get to do and experience the things that light them up.

It really didn’t feel like a sacrifice or “giving up” my Mother’s Day. The greatest joy of this motherhood journey continues to be seeing who my boys have become and are becoming. I LOVE all of them so much but it was a special treat to get rare one on one time with the boy who made me a mama.

And thanks to my mom for spending her Mother’s Day on Mimi duty with the other wild men.

I know this day can be really complicated for so many reasons. Thinking of and praying for those of you longing, grieving, and hurting 🫶🏻 you are not overlooked today!

So many of yall have prayed about our sweet buddy and asked about this whole saga!!

The cliff notes: He fell 2 weeks ago on a wooden bridge at the golf course and caught himself with his wrist. Had multiple splinters go in. ER removed 3 that were surface level. However, as time went on, I just knew something wasn’t right.

Two pediatrician appointments landed us at the pediatric general surgeon that eventually landed us at pediatric ortho surgeon. So thankful for doctors that kept listening and working to figure out what the heck was going on!!

Yesterday we spent nearly the entire day in appointments to finally get ultrasounds that confirmed what my suspicions suspected…there were still foreign objects inside of his wrist.

Large and deep in the muscle 😵‍💫 Today Dr. Bray (the absolute BEST!!!!) got out 5 more pieces including the pic of this massive one (I think we need to upgrade the word splinter). Had to go deep in his arm (moving tendons, ligaments, etc… lots of important things that I’m thankful smart people understand) but he got all 5 pieces and we are so thankful!! Our buddy has hardly complained the last 2 weeks and I cannot believe it considering what he’s had in there!! The toughest 5 year old I know!!

Thanks for praying for our dude - probably a painful few days/weeks ahead but we’re hopeful this is the road to recovery and getting his hand/arm back in action!
