YUNGBLUD is just past the age of kitten. Not yet a young adult, sort of a tweenager! That means he has lots of energy and loves to play until he's ready for down time. He can be vocal when he is lonely and he likes attention. He came as a stray but is too willing to interact with people to have been "feral". Fortunately, he was found and brought in before any tragedy befell him. YUNGBLUD is a blank slate. We do not know how he will react to dogs, cats, or kids. Most cats this young can, with proper introduction, adapt to a non-aggressive/passive dog. So far, he's doing ok with other cats he's been around in the shelter. And he ought to enjoy playing with a child old enough to understand that he is still growing and may be easily injured. He also will have sharp little kitten teeth and claws. The child needs to be old enough to understand soft touch, no squeezing hugs, and let him down if he starts to squirm! Parents of young children and kittens must be aware that unsupervised rough play may end with one or both being hurt.

YUNGBLUD has a very long life ahead of him and he hopes to find a home where he will be loved and where he can grow old, with his people forever.

🐱♥️🐱LATTE🐱♥️🐱

LATTE (AKA, Ruby Tuesday) is a FOUR PAW DECLAW! She was adopted as a kitten but recently returned "due to adjustment issues at the home". Apparently, the neighbors now have a dog who insisted on barking under the window LATTE sat in to enjoy the sunshine. The aggressive barking upset LATTE, and she reacted, out of fear, aggressively. When owner tried to control Latte, she bit the owner. Not witnessing the incidents, we only know what we are told, but when a cat if afraid, they often lash out. Without claws, she used what she had to protect herself. And a terrified cat does not recognize friend from foe.

At the shelter, LATTE was upset and did not want to be examined, given shots, and put in a kennel. Who could blame her after the whole ordeal of the stressful situation at home, then being left at the shelter? After a few days though, she has settled and enjoys being petted and given attention. And she really likes treats! She seems ok but reserved around other cats. Given her back story, she apparently does not like dogs. She may be best with no children, or children over 12 who would not care if she were not interested in playing. With no claws, she may bat at toys, but as she ages, she may become uncomfortable with strenuous play. She is not a fan of being picked up. Larger cats often are not happy with being picked up. But perhaps, with no claws to hang on with, LATTE may be afraid of falling? She does love being petted and brushed - she did not even mind having a matt brushed out

LATTE is beautiful, but she is not a fan of chaos, or changes. She needs a quiet, stable home with someone who is patient and able to allow her to get comfortable at her own pace. Do you have a sunny window that Latte could claim as her own, without obnoxious dogs spoiling her Zen moments?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHYLOW!!

SHYLOW's folks adopted her when she was a stray kitten in 2017, and they have been together ever since. Sadly, her dad recently died, and mom had to move. No one was able to take SHYLOW in. Rather than leave her outside, where the landlord threatened to shoot her, the family surrendered her to the shelter. We are happy they did, because no cat should be left to fend for itself outdoors, especially one who has been used to being loved! It is not safe for any cat, and not all predators are 4 legged!

The family did say SHYLOW can be nervous around people, but if they approach her calmly, she is cuddly and purrs. She does love attention and will now come to visitors to be petted. She was not a fan of the other cats in her room and would growl and hiss when she first arrived. However, she has accepted them and tries to stay out of their way, though she will stand up for herself if need be. She's like the Grandma of the group. She puts up with so much, then lets the youngsters know they need to settle down NOW!😁

Since she is selective of other cats, she's probably not going to be a fan of dogs either.

SHYLOW came from a home with older people and was the only pet. Given her age, she would probably be best in a quiet home with little chaos. She should do ok with older children who understand that she may need time to warm up to them and although she might enjoy a bit of playtime, she mayt be more of a cuddle buddy than a playmate. SHYLOW likes to give kisses and will reach out with her paw for attention. If there's a lap available, she'll get in it. She can also be quite vocal about it!

SHYLOW has known love her whole life, and she misses her folks. She needs to find another home where she will be loved and cared for, this time forever! All she wants is someone who would like to spend the golden years with this sweet kitty!

🐱💝🐱LASSANA🐱💝🐱

LASSANA had quite the journey to get to the shelter. She was a stray who found her way to a caring person. She received food and affection from her rescuer, but the lady had several kitties already who did not welcome a newcomer. After trying to find a shelter in her area that would take in this beautiful FIV positive kitty, she reached out to us. We had room and were happy to help.

LASSANA (which means Beautiful in Sri Lanka) was on her way for the next portion of her journey. The young lady and LASSANA drove from the Detroit area to Lansing to pick up a friend. The friend took LASSANA out of her carrier and this sweet kitty rode the rest of the way in her lap, just enjoying the scenery and the snuggles.

LASSANA has settled right down in and seems content to wait and see what happens next! LASSANA loves attention, loves snuggles. She is a little shy at first but quickly overcomes that and asks to be petted. She does have one cute little quirk. Sometimes, she starts off with a hissy, growly noise, which might make someone nervous, however this noise quickly becomes a wonderful purr (kind of like she's revving up her engine). She also can be vocal when she's asking for attention.

We do not know how LASSANA is with dogs or kids. She is young enough and her disposition is so sweet, she should adapt well with a non-aggressive dog. She also should be fine with children old enough to have been taught soft touch/pets, no squeezing hugs, and prolonged play sessions can overstimulate any cat, which can result in bites or scratches. She is doing fine with her roommates but does tend to stay back as she is the only female in a room of "tough guys" who are not shy about asking for attention. Demure little LASSANA just stays back and waits for her turn.

FIV cats have an immune deficiency. This is not contagious to dogs, people, or other animals. It is not spread by normal cat tussles or play, only by an aggressive cat fight with bites through muscle into bone, or it can be passed by an FIV mother cat to her babies before birth. FIV cats have the same 15-year life expectancy as any housecat. Please read information about FIV.
