First Methodist Church Myrtle Beach
The Church with a heart in the heart of Myrtle Beach
Have you ever considered the power of prayer? Has it quietly become more of a divine wishlist than a conversation with God? It doesn’t have to be.
Think about the Lord’s Prayer in The Gospel of Matthew. How many times have we recited those words without really stopping to consider them? Yet when Jesus taught His followers how to pray, this is the example He gave them.
It begins with praise.
A longing for earth to reflect heaven.
A request for daily bread — not excess, but enough for today.
A plea for forgiveness, guidance, protection from temptation, and deliverance from evil.
Prayer was never meant to be a rushed checklist. It is ultimately a conversation - a relationship - with the Lord. When we reduce it to routine, we can miss the depth, peace, and power found in simply being with Him.
This week, try focusing on just one verse from the Lord’s Prayer. Sit with it. Reflect on it. Ask yourself: What does this truly mean in my life right now?
