Throwback Thursday…”back day”, w and w/out sunglasses. I never figured out where that whole wearing sunglasses and fake screaming kick in pics got started. Anyone else know?

One of the thousands of editorial shots taken by famed photographer and co-owner of IronMan Magazine, Michael Neveux. Those were definitely the good old days when you just had to worry about showing up to the shoot in shape because the photographer, the art director and his team would take it from there. I, personally, had a very strict policy with every one of the magazine editors and owners to NOT airbrush me or make me look bigger, leaner, more tan, less tan, whiter smile, etc . I never wanted to misrepresent myself to the public or more importantly, my fans. What you see is what you'll get. I've always viewed doctoring photos of yourself as the same thing as lying because...it is. Many people look at the images in those magazines as inspiration, it can give them that boost they need or help them define what they'd like to look like themselves. There were definitely a few times I'd show up not in my best shape or on the rare occasion I decided to do something drastic to keep things interesting, like dye my hair white (dumb mistake) or drop 20 to 30 pounds off my frame to appear more refined & "sleek" (another dumb mistake) and for reasons unknown to me, most of those times the magazine would decide to shoot me anyway. Then those images eventually hit the news stands a few weeks or sometimes months later I'd be totally embarrassed seeing those pictures, kicking myself for not showing up in the shape I should've been in. I've always been my own worst critic so believe me when I tell you I definitely beat the s**t out of myself but then my friends and peers would rag me and joke about it for weeks, all in good fun...but it would make me vow to never let that happen again. , , ,

Thank you, JP3dart, for this awesome piece of badassery. I love it.

💦 Can you believe this is Missouri?

Big Spring in Van Buren is the biggest freshwater spring in Missouri and one of the largest in the world when it comes to daily water flow. Over 286 million gallons of clear, cold water come out of the spring each day. Underground passages carry water from as far as 45 miles away!

💦 The spring can be seen right from parking lot and along an ADA accessible pathway. You can continue further down the trail to view a small cave, bluffs, and make a full loop past the spring and over the river bridge.

💦 The Big Spring area also contains more hiking trails, a campground, picnic area, restrooms, and a newly renovated Visitor Center. The area is located along the Current River, a popular river for float trips.

⚠️ The path to the spring is easy for kids, but most of it has no railings so be careful around the water. No swimming or entering the spring. (You can get in the Current River downstream from the spring)

🏚️ The historic dining lodge and cabins at Big Spring were constructed by the CCC in the 1930s and are currently part of a massive renovation project. We can't wait to plan a stay when they are complete!

🌿 Kids can pick up a Junior Ranger book at the Visitor Center (small building when you enter the park) to earn a junior ranger badge.

📍Big Spring is located at Route 103 State Hwy Z, Van Buren, MO 63965

⚠️ Always be sure to pack out what you bring in and keep the area clean for all to enjoy.

💦 Big Spring is part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways which protects two of Missouri's natural rivers. To learn more about things to see in the Ozark Scenic Riverways, comment "Ozark" below to have a guide sent to your DMs. ⬇️ (Make sure you are following me to receive the message!)
