Good news guys — our new assistant just finished 1,000 hours at her Bedroom Beauty Academy, so according to some Idaho State Representatives, she’s basically industry-ready now 👍🏼👌🏼

Ready for what exactly?
Oh just Full chemical services, color science, cutting, barbering, nails, skin & esthetics, sanitation, infection control, scalp/skin disorders, blood exposure protocols, anatomy, Idaho state law & regulations… no big deal, right?

Because apparently a teenager can learn that from their bedroom… right? 🤷🏼‍♀️
(As suggested in a proposal to cut Idaho cosmetology education to 1,000 hours.)

And sure..cutting education by HUNDREDS of hours totally makes sense for an industry working with chemicals, infection risk, and client safety daily… right? 😌

Real talk:
Stylists already leave school needing MORE hands-on training after 1,600 hours.
Dropping to 1,000 isn’t progress-it’s irresponsible!

1,000 hours is NOT enough.
1,600 honestly isn’t enough.
Even 2,000..many still need mentorship.

When under-trained stylists hit the real world, guess who fixes the damage?
Licensed professionals who spent YEARS mastering this industry.

This isn’t play time.
This isn’t arts & crafts.
This is client safety.

👏🏼 Stop. This. Ignorance.

I apprenticed in high school, studied business in college, completed 2,000 cosmetology hours, and STILL assisted after to gain more confidence & skill.

After training stylists for a decade, NOT ONE has felt fully prepared leaving school.
Please reconsider reducing education hours again!!
