“This feels awesome,” senior long pole midfielder Soren Edwardes said. “I’m super pumped with the way everybody’s been working their ass off at practice, working their ass off in games. Everyone’s buying in. I mean, there’s no better feeling than everyone trying their hardest and really wanting it. I think we’re going to go all the way. We can do it.”

“This feels good. It feels fresh,” Nolen Mosscrop said. “After the last game (against Pentucket) I really thought to myself I was like, ‘Wow, this is my first full season,’ so it feels great to not have (injuries) in the back of my head. Last year it was always in the back of my head.”

“This feels great,” Canton Jenkinson said. “We’re trying to repeat history. We’ve been together since youth lacrosse, like third grade. We’ve been friends since first grade. Everybody knows each other well. Everybody knows what they can do, and you just work off that. I’ll do anything for the team. I’m glad to do it. If they need me at close D, I’ll be back there. If they need me on offense, I’ll be up there. I’ll do anything.”

“This is a very tight team,” Arann Hanlon said. “Coming into high school, guys like Ryan Davis, Paddy Carroll, Dave (Cirillo), Jack (Halik), all those boys are really close with us. They took us under their wing, and we had a very tight team, very close connection. I feel like going into last year, we built the chemistry up a lot. Playing with people you trust around you and get along with and growing up with your whole life is so special, and I think it just makes us that much better.”

For a third consecutive season, the Whaler boys lacrosse team has clinched a spot in the MIAA Division 4 State Semifinal following a 10-9 victory over the Pentucket Panthers at Vito Capizzo Stadium Saturday evening.

“It’s just a good group of kids starting with, I’ll even say four years ago,” Whaler head coach Sam Aloisi said about his program making three straight state semifinals. “Starting with that crew when these (seniors) were freshmen. There were a few good senior leaders that led these guys then, and then 2024 with that crew, and last year I thought was a tremendous accomplishment after graduating all those guys from the ‘24 championship team to do what we did last year and make the semis… and unfortunately that was it. But they’re all back for one more try. These kids know, the upperclassmen in particular, what it’s like to win, and they’re hungry, and they want to get back there (to the state final). So that’s the goal.”

The second seeded Whaler boys lacrosse team welcomed the fifteenth seeded Rockland Bulldogs to the island Wednesday afternoon and handily beat them 17-1 to advance to the MIAA Division 4 State Quarterfinal.

“Penalties were the big negative and the missed shots,” Whaler head coach Sam Aloisi said. “Going forward, we can’t do that. We can’t afford to give away possessions. That was a big negative. Other than that, our ride was pretty good. They broke it a couple times, so we see what we got to work on there. But all in all, our defense is just playing really well. Even the few times they did get good looks, Jeremy (Jenkinson) made the saves.”
