**In Tribute to Ken Roman**

Ken Roman was the former CEO of Olgivy and Mather, author, board member but most importantly he was a great friend to TownPool.

I first met Ken in the summer of 2009 at an event on the island. I approached him and said, “Hey, did you write *The King of Madison Avenue*?” He pointed at a friend, asking if he had put me up to this. I replied, “No, sir, I read your book and recognized you from the about the author picture.” With a warm smile, he handed me his card and suggested we grab lunch.

Ken was not just a brilliant mind; he was a generous spirit. He always offered his time and lent an ear to my aspirations, providing invaluable guidance, introductions, and encouragement. He even joined our roundtable discussions as a speaker, sharing his wealth of experience. Each summer, our lunches became a tradition where his sharp questions challenged us to think deeper and push beyond our limits. Ken had a unique ability to inspire self-reflection and help others find answers within themselves. He was a true leader.

Whenever I was in New York, he insisted I visit him. Those lunches were more than meals; they were lessons in strategy, creativity, and resilience. Hearing his stories about leading Ogilvy and Mather during the 1980s—navigating the advertising world before the internet—was awe-inspiring. "One phone call at a time," he would say, reminding us that success is built on relationships and persistence.

Ken's warmth and kindness transformed him from a mentor into a true friend. He had a remarkable talent for making everyone feel valued, and his insights were always profound and thought-provoking. I feel incredibly fortunate to have known him and to have learned so much from his experiences.

He lived fully, shared generously, and left a legacy of wisdom that will continue to guide me.
I will always cherish the moments we shared and the lessons he imparted.

I may not have bought many books in 2009, but I am proud to say I chose his, and it changed my life.
Thank you, Ken, for everything. Your spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those you touched.
