Another dog found wandering the streets, suffering with severe skin issues and desperately needing help. 💔

This year alone, we have already taken in more than 172 dogs from our own community. These cases include owner surrenders, stray dogs found roaming the streets, mothers and puppies living in unsafe conditions, and animals people can no longer care for. Stray animals are brought to DAS where owners have the opportunity to reclaim them safely.

The heartbreaking reality is that there are simply not enough homes for the number of animals already suffering right here in Collier County. At the same time, more dogs continue being brought into our area from other counties, states, and even countries by other local rescue organizations. We believe every animal deserves compassion and safety, but we also believe our local crisis must be addressed before adding to an already overwhelmed system.

Our mission is to help fix the problem here in Collier County through rescue, spay/neuter, education, accountability, and advocacy and then use that model to help other communities do the same.

We promise to continue doing the hard, often heartbreaking work every single day: rescuing animals in need, standing up against neglect and abuse, and fighting for real long-term solutions to pet overpopulation.

Yesterday’s Memorial Day 5K was a huge win for the animals (and people) in our community! 🤩

To our volunteers, sponsors, attendees (all 350+ of you 😮), first responders, and spectacles…. Thank you for showing up for the animals and making this event so special. 🥹
