Village Walk of Bonita Springs Villa Tour 05/23/2026

Why are the VillageWalk communities so popular decades after their inception?

The answer is a fascinating story about a development concept that was genuinely ahead of its time.

Village Walk was one of the first non-golf communities in Naples with large fitness centers, a restaurant, a hair salon, lap pool, post office, and tennis leagues — a genuinely new model for Naples community living when it launched in the late 1990s. Before VillageWalk, if you wanted resort-style amenities in Naples without a country club, your options were limited. DiVosta essentially created a new category.

The Town Center Concept Changed Everything
Village Walk is renowned for its unique "Town Center" concept — a self-contained lifestyle hub that gives residents everything they need without leaving the gates. The Town Center includes two resort-style pools, a lap pool, restaurant, fitness center, eight tennis courts, pickleball, two bocce ball courts, a library, hair and nail salon, gas station, and post office — all connected by miles of trails ideal for jogging or biking. For buyers who wanted the convenience and community of a country club without the golf initiation fee, this was a revelation.

The Design Has Aged Beautifully
The community was developed in the late 1990s by DiVosta and features 850 single-family homes designed around a series of lakes, with water views prevalent throughout. The community is known for its charming bridges, mature oak trees, and walkable layout — elements that have only improved with age as the landscaping has matured into a lush, established environment that newer communities simply can't replicate.

It Spawned an Entire Family of Communities
After Village Walk, the developer built Island Walk in the early 2000s, following the same town center and amenity model but adding a putting green, gas station, and car wash. After Island Walk came Verona Walk, starting construction in 2005, and eventually Village Walk of Bonita Springs. The fact that the developer kept replicating the model is the clearest possible proof that buyers kept responding to it.

The Short Answer
VillageWalk endures because DiVosta got four things right simultaneously — design, construction quality, amenity depth, and price accessibility — and built a sense of community that residents genuinely don't want to leave. In a market full of golf communities where non-golfers feel like second-class members, VillageWalk gave active, social buyers a home that was built entirely around them. Decades later, that still resonates.
