Thank you Naples for allowing us to create beautiful landscapes!

We recently won the Collier Building Industry Association’s (CBIA) 2017 Sand Dollar Awards competition, in the category of "Best Outdoor Living Area" for our project titled "Modern Solitude" the Naples private residence awarded for design excellence and landscape architecture building expertise.

The CBIA competition honors the area’s building and design community. The Sand Dollar Awards are presented each year by the Sales and Marketing Council (SMC) of the Collier Building Industry Association (CBIA), to member builders, developers, architects, interior design firms, marketing, sales and/or advertising professionals who have demonstrated building, design and marketing excellence in the Collier County Area. This year’s competition Awards Gala was held in Naples at the Ritz Carlton on September 30, 2017.

I didn't see ANY coconut palms when I visited up north last week! But I did see some absolutely beautiful autumn leaf colors. I just couldn't resist sitting among them!

My Naples Botanical Garden find of the week: I love the loud, hot colors of the bromeliads against the white shell groundcover. So striking and simple! Perfect Florida Autumnal colors found on a recent volunteering trip to the garden.

I had so much fun on Thursday, October 27th, volunteering at the Naples Gulf Shore Sunset Rotarian's Fourth Annual Hallowine Walk at Mercato. About 300 tickets were sold and thousands of dollars raised for good causes. Kudos to Mel Drury, the Wine Walk Committee Members, other Club members who helped out, the volunteers from CCCR and Blessings in a Backpack, and the eleven participating venues at Mercato.

I've been volunteering at the Botanical Gardens each Thursday and I'm amazed at the variety of the shapes, colors, and scale with the choice of ground cover. We are so lucky to be able to view up-close a living catalog right here in Naples! Everywhere I turn I'm inspired with endless possibilities and imagination for gardens I am designing. Last week I stumbled upon a perfect lush ground cover, “Oakleaf Fig - Ficus montana,” that I want to experiment with. I thank Dr. Abernathie for allowing me to bring a small cutting back to try out at our office. Can’t wait to get them planted!
