🚧 Breaking Ground on the Future of Public Safety 🚒

Yesterday, we celebrated an exciting milestone as we officially broke ground on Station 49.

What began with the purchase of this property in 2024 is now becoming a reality. When Station 49 opens in approximately 12–14 months, it will become home to Medic Rescue 49 and Tower 49, enhancing our emergency response capabilities, strengthening coverage, and helping us continue to meet the needs of one of Florida's fastest-growing communities.

Designed with the future in mind, Station 49 will also include space that can support additional public safety partners and community resources as needs evolve, creating opportunities for greater collaboration in serving our residents.

Today's ceremony brought together our Board of Fire Commissioners, elected officials from the local, state, and federal levels, our law enforcement partners, and the architects, engineers, and construction professionals who will help bring this vision to life. Seeing everyone come together reflects a shared commitment to the safety and well-being of our community.

A fire station is more than a building.

It is where firefighters prepare.
It is where lifesaving equipment is housed.
It is where training takes place.
It is where children will visit and learn.
It is where careers begin.
And it is where crews stand ready 24 hours a day to answer your call.

Station 49 is also being built with the health and safety of our firefighters in mind. In addition to serving our community, it will incorporate modern technology and design features that help reduce firefighters' exposure to carcinogens that cause cancer—the leading cause of line-of-duty deaths among firefighters—helping protect those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.

Station 49 represents our promise that as our community continues to grow, North Collier Fire Rescue will continue providing the professional, compassionate, and timely emergency services our residents and visitors deserve.

Our firefighter has been released from the hospital and IS HOME.
They were kept overnight for observation and released this morning. Thank you to our amazing community for the thoughts and prayers. We are humbled and grateful.

Fire investigators deem the fire not be suspicious.

This morning at 0945, Engine 44 responded to a CO Alarm Activation at a home along Hickory Road. Upon arrival, the crew reported a column of smoke and immediately called for additional resources. In less than ten minutes from the initial dispatch, units were on scene and had made entry into the home, where they discovered two victims; one was transported to the hospital with burn injuries, and the other victim was deceased. A North Collier Firefighter was also transported for heat exhaustion. Their family has been notified. And we will update their status when we know more. Please keep our firefighter and the family of the victim in your thoughts and prayers.

A little less than 20 minutes into operations at 1006, a second alarm was struck by Battalion 45, and a third alarm at 1035. There were several factors involved in the decision to strike the second and third alarms, the least of which were the size of the home, which is as large as many commercial structures, its unique features, and, of course, the heat. Temperatures soared into the 90s today with the ‘feels like” temperature reported to be 108 degrees, or what the meteorologists referred to as “dangerous heat”.
The fire was called “under control” at 1123, and “fire is out” was reported at 1251. During this time, extensive operations were conducted to ensure the fire, which was traveling through the eaves and roof of the home, was extinguished, including the use of thermal imaging cameras, pulling ceiling tile, and removing drywall to prevent the fire from spreading into void spaces.

Along with our crews, we want to thank Collier County EMS, Collier County Sheriff's Office, City of Naples Fire, and Greater Naples Fire for the extraordinary work today, both on scene and for covering some of our stations during the operations.

The State Fire Marshal's Office, along with the Collier County Sheriff's Crime Scene Investigation and firefighters, will remain on scene for an extended period. This is an active investigation. Hickory Road is now open, but please be aware that there will be a large presence of emergency responders remaining on scene during the investigation.
