Naples Yoga & Movement
At Naples Yoga & Movement, we believe that mindful movement thrives in connection — not isolation. Put yourself back on top of the priority list. Yoga is health.

Restraint in practice is the choice to stop sending your attention outward. When the senses quiet, the body feels less pulled by distractions. One of the lessons of yoga is keeping energy inside instead the body of scattering energy outside of us. Pratyahara is one of the eight limbs of yoga that is often overlooked.
This week at Naples Yoga and Movement Center, we will investigate the different types of pratyahara. Containment of energy is one of the most profound movement techniques that directly reflects the quality of the mind. Come discover this with us.

“The foot feels the foot when it feels the ground.” — Gautama Buddha
Connection to the ground is how mobility becomes functional because the ground is an external reference point where we can experience ourselves. Every yoga pose is a negotiation of weight. Every transition is a recalibration of center. When you recognize yourself in that relationship, you become the steward of your own practice. From this place, yoga is no longer a checklist of anatomical actions and poses, but movement that originates organically from within.

alone we have attained to freedom, and not before."
-Swami Vivekananda
A steady practice is its own kind of independence. On this holiday weekend we come back to the mat to feel what anchors us, what clears space inside, and that freedom begins in the body. Don't forget to include yoga with us in your holiday weekend plans!

The weekend is for feeling less weighted down and a lot more alive. In your practice, what is wanting to come alive? What is waiting to feel the touch of your breath and the light of your attention? When we loose the grip we have on ourselves, there is so much to receive.

“Life must be lived as play.” — Plato
Playfulness is a way back into presence. When we let the body move with the joy of curiosity, the practice becomes lighter and more honest. It is easier to see what is true when we stop trying to get it right.
