On this day 20 July, in 1942, the First Special Service Force was officially activated.

The V42 Stiletto, and the Crossed Arrows that make up part of our Special Forces Distinctive Unit Insignia as well as our branch insignia both come from this legendary group of war fighters. We, as well as Canadian Special Operations both trace our lineage through this unit.
